Rico Artist, Simon Kaylor wins Jazz Services Award with jazz group, ‘If Destroyed Still True (IDST)’ – The group which features Simon Kaylor (a Rico La Voz Reed Player) on Tenor Saxophone, was formed by Leeds College of Music alumni and has recently won the annual Jazz Services Promoters' Choice Award. The Award secured the band a showcase performance at the 2008 London Jazz Festival as well as upcoming performances at Cheltenham, Manchester and Scarborough Jazz Festivals as well as a nation wide tour in 2009. Their debut album, ‘Seven Dials’ is now available from Amazon, CD Baby and itunes and Simon used La Voz Med Hard Tenor Reeds for the whole recording.
Simon is a key member of LIMA (Leeds Improvised Music Association) and will be touring with a number of LIMA groups throughout 2009 and 2010 including, ‘Rabbit Project’ which features Matt Bourne and Dave Kane and Egg3, an Anglo-Norsk contemporary jazz trio. Both groups have albums due for release in April this year.
